5 Ways to Wow Customers in Any Business

The Internet. Social media. With the advance of digital technology, customers have changed. Today they can connect directly and faster, publically broadcasting their loyalty to your company, or their complaints. But, whether you own a valet company, parking garage or any other type of business, you can still delight your modern customer with five customer service tips that combine tried-and-true best practices with a few digital-age updates.

#1 Hire the Right People

Sunshine Valet

Having a great customer service team isn’t enough. Great customer service happens when you maintain a high level of customer service across all departments and points of contact with your business. To achieve this, you’ll need to take the time to hire the right employees. Your agents are your company’s ambassadors. Once you’ve hired them, make sure they’re well trained so they feel empowered to make on-the-spot decisions. Then keep them happy by treating them as well as your customers. Offer competitive pay and benefits. Provide a clearly defined path of promotion. Make the job fun through rewards. If you hire and retain exceptional staff, they’ll deliver exceptional customer service.

#2 Make a Great First Impression

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. This is even more true as customers have become more connected. So give your agents the support and incentive to wow new customers. A relationship that starts off strong will be much more likely to stay strong. Customer engagement company Thunderhead.com found that 20% of customers stop trusting a company after one bad experience, and a 1/4 of them will instantly switch brands. If you’re in the valet or parking business, this is even more crucial as your staff may be the first, and final, encounter a customer has with a business. Two very memorable moments that can make a lasting impression.

#3 Manage and Exceed Expectations

Bridge City Parking

Let customers know what they can expect. Then, exceed those expectations. Customers will know you’re willing to go the extra mile, and you won’t have to worry about unmet expectations. If you offer a guarantee, honor it. If you say you’ll respond to emails in 24 hours or tell a specific client you’ll call them by Monday, then commit to that. You can’t earn the trust and respect of your customers unless you deliver on promises. Also make sure you’re accessible. Today’s customers expect instant access and fast responses. So offer plenty of ways to contact your business like phone, email and social media. Then make sure these channels are easy to manage and well staffed.

#4 Always Take the High Road

Even if you’re dealing with an angry, rude, complaining or demanding customer, treat them with respect. Instead of arguing, train your employees to focus on what’s occurred and how to best resolve the situation. Scripted dialogue and emails can also provide your staff with the right tone and tools for tough conversations like these. If your business did make a mistake, admit it, apologize and do whatever it takes to make the situation right. Your customers will appreciate it and stay loyal.

#5 Be Proactive, Not Reactive

Peninsula Parking

Too often, customer service is reactive. This happens when a business only communicates with customers when they reach out with complaints. “When customer service management systems operate proactively with customer experience solutions and are able to anticipate customer needs before they occur, you’ll have a more satisfied customer.” says Rita Tochner, head of corporate marketing at Pontis. Utilize big data, customer suggestion cards, or input from staff to proactively address issues before they become problems. You might also offer your employees incentives to brainstorm ways to impress and better serve customers.

Come to a Dead Stop, at the Valet

It’s October, and we all know what that means. The air is crisp. Leaves are turning. Pumpkins are ripening. And the zombies are parking your car.

Halloween’s lurking just around the corner and everyone’s getting into the spirit! Because it’s not just fun, it’s also a great way to make your valet station stand out and draw drivers and potential customers to your business. While they might not notice plain unformed attendants standing behind the usual podium, they’ll have a hard time zooming by a zombie-manned valet station with a sign that reads “Come to a dead stop”. Pick your favorite theme, trending or classic, and choose valet station decorations and attendant costumes that match. How about a Hogwarts theme with wizard attendants and valet tickets printed with the names of Hogwarts houses, “Gryffindor, Slytherin …”? Or keep it monstrously simple with werewolves, Frankensteins and more fiendish creatures. Not elegant enough for your business? What about a stylishly dressed family of vampires with a sign that reads “Bloody good service”?

Still, you can’t join in the Halloween valet fun without the right valet station. Luckily, The Valet Spot has the perfect podium for your needs, whatever the season.

Use Valet Key Holders to Enhance Your Business

When buying valet key holders and key boards, it’s best to assume that there will be a lot of keys. It’s always better to be prepared than not, especially when it comes to securing keys for your customers. Valet key holders and key boards are the perfect solution to organizing all your keys. Depending on your needs, there are numerous options available to fit your business style and necessities.

Valet Key Holder Security

One of the most important features for valet key holders is security. If you have a valet service that requires you to leave the key board unattended, then top-of-the-line security is imperative. Your customers need to know that their keys are safe and secure. Also, leaving your business wide open to theft is probably not a good idea.

However, some businesses do not require valet key holders to be securely locked. If your company has an office where someone is nearby at all times then state-of-the-art security is not as vital. Generally, most office settings do not need additional security for valet key holders.

Organizing Your Business and Your Clients Keys

For any business, first impressions are extremely important. In fact, if you don’t give a good representation right off the bat then the likelihood of returning customers is quite slim. Moreover, customers will most likely pass you by and look elsewhere if they see a valet service that is poorly structured.

You can avoid this and give a lasting impression by being organized. Look at your business as if you were the customer. If your work area is a mess then customers aren’t going to feel confident in giving you the keys to their car. Would you leave your car and keys at a business that was disorganized and dysfunctional? If your valet service is organized, uniform, and run professionally, then a customer will feel comfortable leaving you with their cherished vehicle.

Adding More than Organization

Valet key holders that are designed for your style of clientele will definitely make a lasting image. You can also add a nice touch by using stylized valet tickets that are paired with your valet key holders or key boards. To the customers, this shows that you are well-organized and pay attention to the small details. Not only will they feel safe in leaving you with their car but they will feel that VIP valet experience.

Types of Valet Key Holders

The Valet Spot has a wide selection of valet key holders and key boards. Depending on your needs, you can choose a holder that has a small capacity of 50 or a large capacity of 100 or even 200. And as mentioned prior, you need to decide on a locked or unlocked valet key holder for ultimate security.

There are also other options in design and structure. Valet key boxes can be portable; can come with a stand, can be mounted on a wall and even have the ability to attach an umbrella.

When investing in a valet parking key box for your businesses, it is imperative that you purchase a high quality holder for numerous reasons. Some of the features you need to take into consideration before buying are security, size, mounting, durability, flexibility and type.

Get up to speed before you purchase a valet parking key box.

First off, it is safe to assume that your business will need a valet parking key box that can hold a lot of keys. It is better to be prepared than to turn down customers because you don’t have enough room in your holder. Equally, an overstuffed box that contains too many keys looks in disarray and makes a bad impression on customers as well as confusing your employees. Valet parking key boxes should be well organized and make life easier for you and your customer.

Valet Parking Key Box Security

It is vital that your valet parking key box be secure.  Not only will it ease the mind of your customers so they are more apt to return but it prevents possible theft. In fact, securing the keys for your customers has to be one of the most important features to consider when purchasing a valet parking key box.

To assure utmost security, a valet parking key box needs to have a secure lock and a robust design. Some of the lock options at The Valet Spot include combination locks and slam locks. They also utilize top-of-the-line material for supreme durability. The innovative design uses a zinc undercoating for enhanced durability, making the box extremely sturdy and long-lasting.

Combination Locks

Combination locks do not require a key. They are perfect for valet businesses that do not need to access the keys on a continual basis. The only downfall is the potential of forgetting your combination.

Slam Locks

Slam locks are one of the most secure ways to lock a valet parking key box. This type allows you to lock up in a hurry; hence slam lock. It is ideal for valet businesses that are always in a hurry. The drawback is the potential of losing the key and having to get a replacement.

The Valet Spot offers countless valet parking key boxes to fit the needs of your business.  All their boxes are designed to meet the demands of valet servicing. Keep in mind, a valet service should always look professional and have an expertise appearance to attract customers. Likewise, overtime a key box will start showing wear and tear and start looking haggard. This rings true especially if your company often works off site. Dragging you key box to and from the office will eventually wear down the exterior. However, at The Valet Spot the key boxes are made of a scratch-resistant textured powder coat finish to ensure that your investment has an extended shelf life. As well, the scratch-resistant surface helps protect the key box from the elements and prevents rust.

Additional Features

Valet parking key boxes can be stylized to your liking. You can select a key box with or without a stand, add an umbrella and you are ready for business. At The Valet Spot you can choose from a wide array of selections.

With a Stand: Valet parking key boxes with a stand adds presence. Since many valet companies need to be able to advertise when off site, a stand can add that extra touch that will get you noticed. The Valet Spot has a variety of key boxes with stands. The larger ones are very durable yet have wheels for easy transport. The smaller models are lightweight and solid, perfect for small events and private get-togethers.

Without a Stand: Valet parking key boxes without a stand are the ideal choice for companies who do not have large events off site like hotels, offices etc. This key box features a professionally styled design and generally a metal slam action lock. It is very adaptable with pre-drilled holes that make it a breeze to mount on most any preferred wall.
