Valet Parking Entry On Wikipedia

in
  • Blogs
  • Valet History
I'm not sure who edited the current entry for "Valet Parking" on wikipedia.org but they apparently seemed it relevant to include an entire section on "shenanigans," or slightly shady parking practices for special clients. In a relatively short entry, its surprising to me that this kind of information would deemed important to the topic. You can judge for yourself: Shenanigans Valet Parking waiting stations, found usually on the sidewalk or curb in urban areas, directly in front of bars or restaurants, will often use the available parking on the street as "extra-fee" parking. To keep the vehicles owned by famous individuals such as sports stars, actors and actresses, local officials or establishment owners (and his friends), the Valet service attendants and/or drivers will park these vehicles in short-term or prohibited parking spots on the street. It is common to find expensive vehicles directly in front of a popular bar or restaurant for hours or an entire evening, even though the parking space used is a 20-minute maximum spot, a red zone, loading zone or other similar parking spot that can be easily manipulated by shuffling vehicles after the Meter maid makes his chalking of the car tires. Handicapped Parking spots are infrequently used due to the very high penalty associated. Parking in these special parking spots is usually obtained by the Valet attendants through use of cones or the employee's car. An attendant will park his vehicle in the time-limited spot early in the evening. As the evening runs on, a local baseball player or similar frequent visitor will drive up and present a $50 or higher bill and ask for the car to be parked "up front". Upon recovery, the vehicle owner may present an additional $50 or $100 to have his keys back. He will then simply walk to his car with date(s). Sometimes the owner may ask for his car to be prepped with a certain song playing upon recovery, in which case the establishment manager will present the owner's ticket before the vehicle owner leaves the establishment. The car will simply be started and warmed up for an even higher monetary tip.

Our Deluxe Valet Podium with Security Features - Product Overview

in

  • Valet Parking Equipment
  • Valet Podiums
We developed our new Deluxe Security Valet Podium directly from your feedback. We really love interacting with our customers on design requests, so thanks for all of you who took the time to discuss our products with us. If you are currently using our products and have some design feedback for us, please feel encouraged to drop us a line. Ok... onto the podium. There are two main purposes we are offering this upscale podium: First, we wanted to provide our clients with extra features, most notable, a durable textured powder coating. This coating isn't currently pictured on the podiums on our website (we'll have that update in a few weeks), in the meantime you can get a look at this premium coating here. This special coating-- along with a zinc coating that we've now made a standard feature for all of our products-- allows for a longer lifetime of having a really good looking podium in the field. If you combine this new coating with our weather proof valet podium cover you can count on your locations looking great for years. Second, we wanted to make a podium that addressed heighed security concerns that many of our clients have-- especially those that utilize computers at their locations. To this end we've added a lot of cool features. 1) Steel anchor point - This podium can be tethered securely at any location. Steel Anchor Point for Deluxe Valet Podium 2) Steel security bar - At the end of the shift, this security bar can be used to ensure nobody can access the drawer and door to your podium. *Note: the bolts here are non essential for security. Steel Security Bar for Added Security 3) Wire routing holes - So you can use all that technology, we've equipped this podium with holes so you can route your cables. Wire Routing Hole for Valet PodiumIf you got some questions about these features, feel free to give us a ring or contact us via email here. I've posted some photos here at the blog, if you want to read more about this product you can check out the product page here. Weather Proof Valet Podium Cover - Product Preview

in
  • Parking Products
This new valet podium cover comes directly from customer requests. Many of our clients wanted a way to protect their investment in a fleet of shining new valet podiums from the Valet Spot, especially those left outside overnight at locations. After a month of testing materials to ensure that no water would penetrate the cover (even standing water caught on the top) we finally are ready to launch this exciting new product (along with our new website on September 1st). The cover comes with a steel cable and steel loops sewn in--giving you the option of securing it to the podium. This weather proof cover also works with many podiums from other suppliers, so if you have some older podiums in your fleet you want to protect, this product is for you. New hook design: Coming soon

in
  • TheValetSpot
  • TheValetSpot
hook_row.jpg We've been working on a new hook design that allows keys and transmitters stay in place while units are in transit or under door-slamming conditions. The result is a new system that allows users to hang and also remove keys easily. While we were at it we also staggered the hooks so keys don’t interfere with numbers and other keys. You'll also notice the MDF/ particle board is missing from the equation which means 3 important changes: 1) The doors on our podiums have been lightened by up to 50%. On most podiums with MDF boards when the door is open and full of keys the units become suspect to tipping. By replacing the MDF with wire these units have much better balance during wind and at full capacity with the door open. 2) MDF is susceptible to water damage and hooks often tear out. The new wire hooks solve both of these common problems. 3) Increased space at the bottom of the door helps to eliminate keys from getting in the way of the door closing. We’ve noticed in the past long key chains can be a pain. Thanks to our customers for helping us to design better products, your feedback is much appreciated!

  • Valet Forums Online
Hi All, I know many of you probably already participate in the forums over at www.BestValetParking.com, but for those of you who don't I thought I'd mention it. In general, this site is a listing service for valet companies nationwide. That is great and probably a must-have for any operator, but the forums give you a really cool opportunity to ask and share advice with other valet operators across the country.
